Trevor Guy

Trevor has had success in a wide variety of public sector roles. This means that he not only has a total commitment to achieving high service standards to improve the lives of children and young people in particular, but offers an unusually broad range of experience and expertise to clients.

Trevor has particular educational expertise having taught for a number of years, worked in the examination field at a very senior level and co-authored a number of award-winning educational materials. He has been the chief adviser to 4 local authorities, chaired the national consortium which held the Wales contract for delivering the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH) and led school inspection teams contracted to Estyn. As well as providing training and developing leadership and management capacity, he has led on self-evaluation methods and co-authored toolkits for both England and Wales.

Prior to becoming a director of GGT Associates, Trevor was Head of Strategy, Partnerships and Commissioning in a South Wales local authority. His interest in more integrated ways of working led to more effective and practical links between education, social care, health and the third sector with the establishment of community hubs and a coherent and comprehensive needs assessment model for children, young people and families (The 4-5-6+ Model). A notable success was in leading on a multi-agency approach to assess and nurture the wellbeing of children and young people. He also directed the production of a commissioning toolkit and was responsible for the £90 million schools’ modernisation programme.

His recent engagement through GGT Associates as an interim director of education focused on leadership and capacity building to move forward a local authority in challenging circumstances. Along with the analysis and restructuring of systems, he works purposefully to bring about organisational change by developing a culture of optimism and upgrading the skills and knowledge of individuals and teams.

Trevor has a particular interest in the media, both film and photography, and has acted as a consultant to the BBC on educational programmes for television and radio. He currently volunteers as a trustee for two South Wales charities, including a community enterprise which operates within a school setting.
